Season Opener Froze Toes 40+

Got up early for the race at 9:00 am.  Had to get up at 5:30 am for this race.  I am not a morning person and this is pretty dang early.  Was still tired from helping brother demo his kitchen earlier this weekend.  Saturday spent time working on bikes for the first time since December and got the old race bike working again.  Hadn't ridden that thing since Gateway Cup.

Kids spent the night at Grandma Pams house. Wife and kids didn't attend this year since they moved the race to a new venue and moved the race way up.

Goals:
1. Have fun.
2. Top 10 finish.
3. No cramping.
4. Make it a race.

Me and Puma consulted before the race.  Agreed that splits would probably occur in the cross wind section.  We agreed to take turns putting some moves together to keep it finish.

The plan pretty much went as we thought.  Some unknown guy showed up though and schooled us good.  He rode about 15 off the front by himself.  We caught him in the head wind.  After the right turn onto the outer road he walked away from us.  Give kuddos to Puma for trying to latch onto the guy but it didn't happen.  Made all goals for the day happen and did a little work on the front end of the race.  Body felt ok but didn't have any high end.  Haven't done anything but endurance and weights so far so I was pleased with todays effort.

Best benefit was getting back to racing.  Life for me is very stress full and throwing it down (even just a little) brings me back to center.  Wife let's me know I get in a pretty bad state this time of year and that all appears to be coming to a end.  Every winter I miss living on the left coast pretty good and get stir crazy.

First blog of my life.  Let me explain the blog's title "When It Hurt Gives More."  This basically applies to any success I have had in life.  Things don't come easy for me, they never have; however, when I stick to the simple saying success follows.

This has worked in family, work and in sports for me.  Thanks for reading.

I am writing this blog to begin publishing things going on so family, friends and others can keep up.
